It's time to get ready for 2008. That means cleaning up the clutter.... giving away or throwing out what isn't needed. What's left can now be seen...some things we've chosen to keep & so they are welcomed. However, the cleaning & clearing has left other things that are not so welcomed, but unfortunately we can not drop these off at Goodwill....bad habits, excess body fat & past resolutions that didn't survive.
Getting rid of clutter is much easier than dealing with what is left. Often times depression hits after the cleaning. Looking at what has to be accomplished, especially those with an or else tag, can make us want to run for cover. And, I'm no different from anyone else. After my cleaning & clearing I also found myself holding a few unpleasant or else tags.... & so this is no time for procrastination. Positive action is the only course. All negative emotions to the playground. Time to lighten up. Time to move.
I begin by utilizing the power of my own mind. It's well trained & ready for me.
My success is the result of my well-focused and pin-point directed energy. I actively gather in my resources. I actively marshal all my energy, while working to build more. I am single-minded and drive for the things I 've decided upon...
The above cluster of affirmations is perfect choice for for today. When I leave my office for the weekend & head out into my more unstructured time, I like my subconscious mind to mull over some powerful suggestions. A break in structured routine is the perfect medium for creativity. This is why we often get eureka or break-through ideas when on vacation.
While I'm out my usual work structure, my creative mind is available for organization & the reinforcement of my already planted goals. Weekends are perfect times for seeing & sensing the facets of my life more clearly. Since the above suggestions have already been planted, my subconscious mind can show me new order and opportunities.
I mentioned bundling affirmations in an earlier post. I do this quite often because they intensify & clarify my message to my subconscious mind librarian. In other words, this is what I want & this is what I need. Here I'm going to direct my subconscious mind & body physiology out of stress & disorder & into high level focus and energy.
As I design & record my CD's, mp3's & books, I like to plant active affirmations. Readers are often surprised as to how easy it is to change their mind programs in this way. It's much more like play than work.
PLANTING AN ACTIVE AFFIRMATION
We always begin by reading the affirmational cluster out loud or slowly to ourselves. There are at least five solid suggestions in the following cluster, so be sure to pay attention to all of them. This is not the time to speed read. Truly listen to what you are saying to yourself.
My success is the result of my well-focused and pin-point directed energy. I actively gather in my resources. I actively marshall all my energy, while working to build more. I am singe-minded and drive for the things I 've decided upon...
Relax deeply & perform the exercises to bring you into a light trance. If you have been practicing, you are finding it much easier to relax deeply, even if there are distractions around you. I always suggest that my clients or readers learn to work with distractions.
It's indeed possible to practice self-hypnosis while fully awake & even in the presence of others who might be talking to you. This is a common practice in sports hypnosis. In this instance the athlete might be performing his sport in competition, while at the same moment directing his subconscious mind towards what he wants, as if he has already achieved it.
When you are ready, locate your mind-screen. Place the following words there. My success is the result of my well-focused and pin-point directed energy. I'd like you to ask your subconscious mind to develop an image representing the first affirmation in the cluster. Now enter the image. Go right into the mind-screen and participate directly with the image. Take the words and put them in order on the side of the image. And when you are ready, step out of the mind-screen.
Breathe deeply & clear the mind screen. Place the following affirmation, I actively gather in my resources. Once again, ask your subconscious mind to deliver an image representing the gathering of your resources. Pay close attention to what is presented to you. If you have difficulty with visualization, simply listen to your ideas or thoughts. These are gifts from your own creative mind. If this process is difficult for you, just be patient. Relax deeply again. Your mind will not disappoint you. While you may not get the images or suggestions in this very moment, they will come.
Relax deeply and bring forth the mind screen. Notice that the first two parts of the affirmational bundle are present in the scene. Now, call forth your subconscious mind librarian and hand him/her the following suggestion, I actively marshall all my energy, while working to build more. Notice that new, active images are already in place, even before the words are out of your mouth. Enter the mind-screen, walk around and closely admire what you have already planted. Participate with what is presented to you.
Notice your librarian is asking you what you have in your pocket. Take this out. I am singe-minded and drive for the things I 've decided upon... You are now being lead over to the images representing this suggestion/desire. Allow desire to flow into your body, feeling a sense of gratitude for the power you have been given.

Quiet Achievement
Take the gentle path...George Herbert
How hard we all try to achieve things.......& how many different things we try to achieve. No wonder so many of us are so tired. Sometimes life is like a continuous uphill climb. So, no matter what you are looking to achieve in your personal & business life or in creative endeavors, be they at your computer or on the playing field, it's a good idea to keep a look-out for this potentially dangerous mind-state.
Often when we are alone or in our regular life-patterns, it isn't as noticeable, unless someone draws our attention to it, at which point most of us would become defensive. Here are some catch-phrases that come my way....This is just the way I am or If I don't keep working hard, I'll never amount to anything. Or.......Leave me alone. I know what I'm doing. Do you?
I just came back from spending a weekend with 35 strivers, all under one roof. It was a meeting of publishers & writers, each one on a separate mission for success, including myself. Quite frankly, I'm mentally & physically exhausted. And while the meeting was excellent & had a very positive energy, being around any striving-energy can be depleting & especially when it is your own.
Like many meetings, this one was filled with so much information, that I could feel my mind setting up protective blocks....actually backing up from the continuous barrage being thrown at it. To make matters worse, it was Saturday & my creative mind is not used to this type of treatment once Friday has passed. But, this was an important meeting, so of course, I wanted & needed to stay focused. However, the more I pushed myself to do this, the more my mind rejected my personal demands.
Perhaps you've found yourself in a similar scenario. Most of my patients & students tend to strive & then to suffer from the striving, some actually burning out, for as I mentioned above, striving is contagious, even within ourselves. The more we tend to strive, the quicker we seem to burn!
Here are some suggestions for dealing with a striving-nature....
1. Watch out for it. Most of us have the tendency to effort or push ourselves & ifyou are an A-type personality, you will have higher levels of this trait. It's important to be honest with yourself & avoid defending what you know to be true. Keep in mind that you are the person who will pay the piper.
2. Make plans for it. I don't go to many meetings & so, sometimes I forget about it until I'm in the middle of the problem. However, once it rears it's head, I'm ready. First, I need to realign my goals for being at the meeting. I may need to remind myself that it isn't necessary for me to absorb everything that is presented or discussed. This is a letting-go subconscious mind suggestion & a very powerful one. It tends to break that perfectionistic, obsessive-compulsive, tension-building mind & body set.....an enemy to creativity, concentration & focus.
3. Lighten up. While this is a bit like step 2, it is more in keeping with the mind programs of having fun & actually enjoying the learning process. When I'm working with clients of mine who are in school, no matter what the level, I find that they often need new or restructured mind programs in this department. So, how do we purposefully lighten up?
A very simple exercise is to take a cleansing breath, sense magnets pulling you down into the chair, tilt your eyes up just about 20 degrees & see/sense yourself having a good time, of course, appropriate for the place & time. It's not necessary to image this as a Disneyland experience! Remember that the mind will follow the body.........so a good emotionalized image is all that is necessary.
4. Watch what you eat & drink. Always have a good nutritious breakfast that includes protein & whole grains. Limit your caffeine & sugar intake. It's almost par for the course that meeting break foods will include plenty of caffeinated drinks, sugars & refined foods. Watch those candies & mints that are often placed on the writing tables. These types of foods play havoc with blood sugar levels & therefore build emotional roller-coasters. They make it more difficult to stay relaxed & focued...........thus increasing the desire to strive.
5. Observe your communication skills. Are you spending more time speaking than actively listening? Are you feeling the need to sell yourself to others? This is a good opportunity to stay in awareness & inhance your listening. Sense yourself enjoying this & if the little mind voices come to tell you that you are missing opportunities, remind yourself that this is not so. A good listener tends to make a better impression that one who talks to much. If you tend to have social anxiety, make note of this. Bring back that earlier image of being deeply relaxed & enjoying the party.
6. Trust your mind to do the necessary listening. When the mind & body is well-nourished & relaxed, you can program it to do the listening for you. Here is how to place those suggestions..... as above, take a cleansing breath, deepen & tilt your eyes up gently. See & sense the information coming from the speaker & entering your own mind. Notice how relaxed you are & how easy this process is for you. Celebrate this.
Know that this is not New Age but instead, suggestions relating to emotional crayons that energize the imagery on the mind screen. Keep in mind that the right side of the brain likes emotion in relation to any suggestion. However, it's in your best interest to keep the suggestions & the emotions positive. It's just as easy to program your mind for what you don't want & then to emotionalize it in a negative fashion. Not a good idea, so pay attention to what you are doing...
I'm awake for any & all striving. As I let go, my creativity enhances....Elizabeth Bohorquez, RN, C.Ht

Back on the Bicycle
"Managing thoughts, emotions & body sensations is key to high level health & performance. Those who become skillful at this work, be they adults or kids, will benefit in every area of life".... Elizabeth Bohorquez, RN, C.Ht
It's hard to get back on the bicycle after the holidays. For many, the inattentiveness to self-work started many weeks ago, making it all the harder. Perhaps those old, unhealthy, but familiar patterns have resurfaced & want to stay, but we all know that they can't. To do so is tantamount to inviting big trouble, both physically & emotionally....the makings of a lackluster life.
Take this week to find you focus, perhaps climbing out of the dark place with the help of some awareness & organization....of anything!
Here are some people who are doing just that. Look over my shoulder as I help them. It may be just the thing to get you moving into action. They are all working with the Awareness mp3 that is in the last blog.
MEET HARLAN
I get so relaxed when I do this work that I fall asleep & then get annoyed with myself for messing up my practice. How can I stop this from happening?
Harlan is self-judging because he hasn’t been perfect! Later on, as you begin working with emotional crayons, you will be able to spot these little offenders with ease. Meanwhile, let’s address the main issue.
It’s best to practice interactive awareness in a sitting position. If you find yourself dozing off, lighten the depth of your trance by placing a higher number on the mind screen. You can also open your eyes for a moment, re-center, going back down again. Remember that there is no right or wrong way to do interactive awareness. It is the doing, or action, that is important.
In the practice of interactive awareness you will need a focus. I like to work with my lower belly breath. It’s convenient, having the additional advantage of deepening the trance state simply by observing it. Place your fingers gently on your lower abdomen, below your navel, inviting it to become full & round with your breath. You can use the image of a merry-go-round horse going up & down, or a balloon that inflates & deflates.
After you have practiced for a few weeks, just thinking of the image will slow your brain waves & release stress.
Continue to observe your focus as if each breath, or rising of the ball was a completely new event. Each time you breathe it is a new breath! Observe it. Remember you are the producer/director, wanting to experience the details.
Your mind will wander. That is a part of the process. Your work is stay detached, out of the way. I like to use the image of a parade going by. You are the observer, standing on the curbside. You are not part of the parade. Whenever you find yourself involved in your thought processes ( the parade), return to the position of observer by bringing your attention back to your focus breath or ball. Your mind will continue to show you a thought, you will notice, returning then to the focus.
It’s not uncommon to get lost in thoughts. This is because your mind is not well disciplined. In the future, you will begin to notice much earlier, allowing you to return to the focus. The process of breathing, noticing a thought & then returning to the focus is a full release cycle. Releasing is also called “letting go.” If someone has ever told you to let something go, this is the actual process of doing just that.
There are three general classifications of what the mind will present to you. First are the thoughts. Some of these are presented in the form of pictures, others as sound bytes or inner mind audio tapes. They can be with or without video. There are many classifications of thoughts. Later on, in your work with your Inner Coach, you will be identifying some of your major thought areas, learning to work with them to profit you and your goals.
Your mind may also show you body communications. These are sensations representing body tension. The more stress, the more body tension. When practicing interactive awareness, place flowers on the body sensation, then open the flowers as you did earlier in your mental biofeedback work.
Next, return to your focus breath. Do not be tempted to stay in the sensation, nor to examine it. That is not the purpose of this practice. This is simply awareness of what is, providing you with an opportunity to observe your mind in action.
The third area includes the emotional states. In our work emotions will be viewed as images of children wearing tee shirts with their names on them. Identifying & separating emotions allows for easier release. If you are working with this image, notice that the children have crayons for coloring your experiences. Later on you will be identifying some of your most frequent emotions and their crayons.
KNOWLEDGE HOOK
Just as with mental biofeedback, it is important to make nteractive awareness part of your daily living. This is achieved through a self-discipline I call banking & fractionation. This self-discipline will prepare you for working “in the moment” in the workshop of your world.
The term “banking” is a metaphor for making valuable deposits in your mind & body bank. The more you practice the discipline, the more value you have to utilize in other areas of your life, be it managing addiction or anything else. For example, your body will become more stress-resistant, your cognitive functioning enhanced. You will be designing a doable self-discipline, but one that expands your current boundaries.
Few of us work to our potential, so this is a good opportunity to practice moving from mediocre to excellence. The steps that you are climbing to manage your addiction or disorderly eating, are the very same steps for accelerating learning & high level achievement. It is ironic that your addiction and disorder are becoming catalysts for optimum health & high level performance.
In the practice of banking your mind is set free, with you in the position as observer. This type of heightened awareness is an actual living meditation, but it is more than that. It is the opportunity for you to see clearly without judgment. You are now privy to your subtle stresses, the thoughts that are attached to them, as well as the emotions that carry the thoughts to your mind. Remember, you cannot change what your cannot see.
Now you are seeing much more than ever before. You are a detached observer, free from judgment. Your subconscious librarian is now willing to show you much more. Later on you will be able to work with your observations, having the opportunity to change them completely or edit them to meet your current goals.
Here we will fractionate the banking practice. This simply means breaking your day into segments. This is like taking out the garbage several times a day. It’s a great stress reducer, allowing for quality emotional & thought managing throughout a long day. I fractionate my day in this way. I sit for five minutes before work & again before lunch. After returning from lunch I do so again &then before I head for home at the end of my workday. I then sit again before going to sleep, especially because this is an excellent time to program the subconscious mind for dream work. You will learn more about dream programming in a later chapter.
If my day is very stressful, or if I have need for heightened creativity, I may fractionate even more frequently.
MEET HARRY
I’m getting quite good at fractionating & wonder if I can do this at other times to help my stress from building up. Right now I’m doing this more as a stress release, but I’d like to prevent the stress from coming at all. Is that possible?
Of course you can do that & even more! The world is like an enormous workshop for interactive awareness practice. At this level of skill building, you are working only with interactive awareness & not with interactive self-hypnosis. That is the fourth step. It will allow you to edit & change what you see, but remember that adults learn best in small spoonfuls, so practice patience. You will truly benefit from managing this particular emotion!
KNOWLEDGE HOOK
Moments are very small fragments of time, each holding automatic mind programs in the form of thoughts & emotions. The emotions color the moments with their crayons. The body is also involved as it responds to whatever is passing through the moment.
Keep in mind that every moment is valuable. You already know that you can only catch a small number of them. Later on you will learn how to program your subconscious mind for waking up to genres of thoughts of your choosing. For now the goal is simply to practice waking up & releasing.
It helps to set some triggers to help you wake up, just like little alarm clocks. Sticky notes work well for this. No one else needs to know what you are doing. It’s not necessary to write anything on them. You already know what they are for. When I’m working to improve this skill for myself, I place a sticky note just to the right on my telephone, one in the car, one on left wall in my office. At home I like the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator, the head of my bed. Move the notes occasionally so that your automatic pilot doesn’t set up a program to ignore them.
Each time you notice a sticky note, check the moment. Pay attention to your thought processes, noticing the type of thought, the emotional states & crayons that are being utilized. Next, scan your body, noticing the stressors present, gently placing flowers on the bigger areas. This entire exercise takes less than thirty seconds, but provides tremendous benefits, immediate & in the future.
You are building awareness about who you are, your automatic program, your emotional terrain & what crayons you allow to color your life without deciding if they work for you or not.

"In adversity assume the countenance of prosperity, and in prosperity moderate the temper and desires." ...Livy

The purpose of Master Mind Power Blog is to share ideas about utilizing this powerful mechanism. If you are not a member of the Expert Network, you are welcomed to enjoy the blog & complimentary mp3 programs, but I do encourage you to visit www.self-growth.com & to become a member.
Today I'd like to address prosperity & ways to open the mind to receive, as well as to give. The mp3 program is about working with one's own Master Mind. The link is below.
And so, here are some areas for self-awareness...
I've never met anyone who didn't want to prosper & while they might not verbalize it as such, it will be there if one knows how & where to look. However, it's not uncommon to think small & to negate receiving, especially if one has a low self-worth & self-image. If one grew up in a home where there was a combination of abusive, addiction & lack, then chances are that individual will have less thoughts of prosperity. Those are homes where the child merely looked to survive.
If you were to visit such experiences, you might sense a prosperous feeling when the abuse stops for a period of time. These are recorded as pure joy & reason for celebration. Another example is when the child or even an adult, in such a family of origin is given a very small token or gift resulting in an out-pouring of gratitude. Sometimes the gift may be intangible, such as a smile or kind joke ..... a semblance of normality.
Most of us have no problem giving, but there are many who find it difficult to receive. Even giving to oneself can be painful. Again, this is attached to low self-worth. It can also be connected to co-dependent living. In the practice of interactive self-hypnosis, we can change these patterns, even if they are very deeply mind-etched from childhood. It's important to remember that old & deeply etched patterns continue to play out no matter how old or even mature the individual may appear.
There is, indeed, a secret inner life within all of us. We may not present this Self to the outside world, but it is there & it is always active. We all live behind masks, but in our privacy we can come to know what truly is real for us, if we are willing to look. Of course, looking is painful, but as we learn to separate or disassociate from our painful looking, then we have a chance at changing these patterns, even those deeply etched. This is why it is so important to stay awake, aware, head out of the sand, ready to forgive the Self, have compassion for the Self & be ready, willing & able to work with specialized mind & body tools for inner change.
As writers or therapists, getting to see beyond our own masks, makes us better at our craft. It is certainly more difficult, if not impossible, to get truly inside a character or an individual we would like to help, if indeed we haven't done our own awareness work. For me, that is why writing is so therapeutic. Of course, when I work directly with patients, it is absolutely necessary for me to open my own subconscious mind, if I am to help any of my patients open theirs.
Some readers of this blog have asked me for specific examples of how to do this type of self-introspection. I am certainly happy to do so, as space allows. The two most important tools are something I call interactive heightened awareness & interactive self-hypnosis . We can also deem this active imagery or imaginology. Let's go ahead & apply these two keys to the subject of prosperity.
In the practice of interactive self-hypnosis, it is important to relax the mind & the body. This is very different from sitting in front of the TV or playing solitare on your computer. We want to purposefully slow the brain waves to the alpha level. If you have practiced meditation or yoga, you may have experienced this level of brain wave activity. Once you have trained your mind & body, you can actually change brain wave speed in 1/200th of a second. This is often practiced by athletes or others in competitive play or performance. Obviously, if one is having performance anxiety, it's usually not the moment to go into a deep meditative or self-hypnotic trance.
Once the brain waves are slowed, then the door to the subconscious mind is open & available. Since we are working with prosperity, we will want to design some active imagery for this purpose. I like to develop my mind stage-sets around powerful affirmations. They form the frame-work for the stage-sets. Here is a clip from a CD/mp3 program I designed to enhance prosperity. Keep in mind that the participant is deeply relaxed & already into the subconscious mind library. As the individual participates, the new images are being etched or installed into the subconscious mind.
.....in the clearing we will find the right path leading to the Crystal Cathedral....as we go up the few steps leading to the Cathedral, focus on the rainbows embedded in the crystal blocks....these are rainbows of prosperity....choose one of the blocks & press the palm of your hand against it....real hard now like you are taking a hand print....now find the little pot of gold...remove it gently & notice you can take the coins out, one by one....they are beautifully engraved. I'm giving you a magnifying glass so you can read the inscriptions & as you do, these will enter your own mind library for they are now yours...
I am now seeing new ways of living & new methods of working....I am not confined to the ways & methods of the past...prosperity touches all parts of my life & in ways never experienced before. Titly your eys up just about 20 degrees & locate the screning cloud over there....the cloud opens & you can see yourself in this beautiful new production.....observe your new ways or living.....& now, locate the cloud ladder & climb up....enter the stage & engage yourself in the cloud activity.
We can have anything we can mentally accept, but first we must be able to mentally accept it. Working with interactive self-hypnosis not only gives us this opportunity, but it also allows the subconscious mind to connect to any & all old mind etching that may not have been supporting prosperity & re-program those. Remember that the subconscious mind will take the most recent mind program & super-impose that over any old programs.

Many of us are familiar with the Master Mind, but others are not. We can work with this powerful image in several ways. One way is through our Power Networking. Another way & one I would suggest for everyone, is to work with your very own Inner Master Mind. And so, I'd like to offer you a complimentary mp3 program to help you set the images. Complimentary mp3 programs are ONLY available for a week after my posting them. Of course, all programs are available on my websites, or through major bookstores online who handle mp3's. The complimentary program is a full session, but only a part of the entire program.
